Day 8 -- In the 1700's Spain established 5 Missions along the San Antonio River to Christianize the natives and assimilate them into Spanish culture. The 5 Missions are still standing and Adam and I began our day touring the sites.
The weather in San Antonio was perfect that day. It was hot with no humidity and we really enjoyed being outside. Seeing the missions was a great way to start our day. The most famous one, The Alamo, is situated in downtown San Antonio and so after spending a good bit of time there, we were set to see the city.
For more information about the missions, you can visit: http://www.nps.gov/saan
Side Note: The nps.gov is a FANTASTIC website and has been so helpful in planning this trip. If you are ever planning to visit a national park, check this website first.
