Day 10 -- After admiring the Mountains, we packed up the car and drove into town. There is a small area of town that never incorporated with the city of Las Cruces yet it sits right in the middle of it. This part of town is called Old Mesilla. It has basically marketed itself as being the stomping grounds of Billy the Kid and and has "sold out" accordingly. Every store in the small town square advertised as "the tavern of Billy the Kid" or "where Billy the Kid shopped". Cheesy right? So we just browsed around the shops and enjoyed the beautiful HOT weather. (I LOVED the hot weather in the desert. Adam...not so much)
We lunched at the Double Eagle, a reportedly haunted restaurant. We didn't experience anything supernatural so that was kind of a bummer. The food was good and there was a good amount of Billy the Kid memorabilia (big suprise) on the walls, so we had some fun stuff to look at while we waited for our food.
I've included some pictures of the Old Mesilla town square so you can get an idea of what most every building in Las Cruces/Old Mesilla looked like.
